LIVELIHOOD PROMOTION OF HAND EMBROIDERY WOMEN ARTISAN

With the support of Ministry of Textiles – Handicrafts, government of India SEEDS identified 540 rural artisans in hand embroidery craft and issue Identify card to artisans and facilitate health insurance benefits with the support of Reliance Insurance and Aam Aadmi Bima Yogana Scheme. Under CGTMSE – Credit Guarantee Fund Trust For Micro And Small Enterprises scheme of Ministry of Textiles - Handicrafts, 24 artisans got credit facilities from South Indian Bank, Aruppukottai and union Bank of India, Pandalkudi for the amount of Rs.20000/- per artisan totally Rs.4,80,000/- for improving their economic status.
Several products are made out of the different parts of Palm trees in kariyapatti area. In this area, palm provides the employment to these artisans. To most of artisans depend on palm based products as they are the sole income earners for their families. SEEDS have identified and mobilized these palm craft artisans and issued identity card to these artisans from Ministry of Textiles – Handicrafts. |
The Objectives of the projects are,
- To enhance the skills of Hand Embroidery crafts women so as to enable them to create new trends and new designs to cater the needs of the national & international customer.
- To upgrade skills of the crafts women to compete in the national & international markets
- To enable the crafts women to raise their income
- To create new venues and platforms for fruitful employment opportunities
- To raise the production level of the crafts women
- To develop the ability of patience & concentration
- To develop the aesthetic sense in embroidery
